Copyright Licensing

Cuttings from publications are subject to copyright, which is the protection provided by law for the creators of written and artistic work, against illegal copying.

NewsMonitors are licensed by the Newspaper Licensing Agency(NLA) and the Copyright Licensing Agency(CLA)to make and deliver lawful copies of newspaper and magazine articles by electronic and paper means.
When you take our service (or a trial) we have to inform the NLA as part of our license that you are doing so.

NewsMonitors will have covered the fees involved in the digital delivery of your cuttings and one time access and printing by a single user.
Clients making further electronic distribution or hard copies of any cuttings supplied will need an individual license from the relevant agency.

Restrictions to electronic service

- NLA no longer allows the delivery of cuttings as email attachments

- News International cuttings (Times, Sunday Times, Sun) are not available electronically. However the originals are available by post or we will alert you to articles on the appropriate website.
